My future me (Mikayla)

In the picture above it shows what I want to look like when I am a senior. I chose to look forward straight at the camera to show how I want to always look ahead in life and keep going forward. I put my picture in a  sepia color to show that my true colors are on the inside and they are what will shine bright to the world. I am smiling to show that I want to be happy and joyful as I am now in the future.
How I plan on transforming into this identity four years from now is to keep staying positive. Also I will want to do what's best for me and my family if needed to keep us happy and healthy. Griet also had this mentality "We need the money. We have nothing now that Father can't work...It will keep the family in bread. And a bit of cheese. That's not so little" (Chevalier 9). This here shows how she is going to support her family to help them buy food and be able to live now that her dad can't work. This also shows that she loves her family, which is something I want to continue to do to blossom my identity over these years.
I really want to experience and try new things over these years to gain new found knowledge to keep moving forward as I have said before. In Girl With a Pearl Earring Griet also experiences new things when she gets to try making paint "I took up the muller and tried to imitate his stance as I leaned over the table" (Chevalier 102). Here she is trying to make the paints for the first time. I also want to learn from others to help me along the way, just like how Griet imitated Vermeer's stance. I feel like one of the best ways to create my identity is to learn new talents I can find in myself by watching others. Over these next years I just want to improve on myself to create the identity I truly want people to see.

  1. I love how you said that you chose to make the picture black and white because your true colors are on the inside. That's how I feel about people's personalities, we shouldn't judge people by how they look on the outside because there could be a whole rainbow of colors on the inside.

  2. Mikayla:
I agree with you when you say that you always want to look forward in life, and I also love how you demonstrated this fact. Looking straight at the camera was a creative way of showing that! Also, in the future I hope I stay happy like you. Lastly, the idea of staying positive is definitely a great way of transforming. I hope that we can all remain positive throughout our lives!

  3. Such a beautiful picture, Mikayla! I really liked the symbolism in your picture. The way you used the sepia to show that you have a unique personality is really cool. You are such a talented, pretty, and smart person, so you should have no problem learning new things and being who you want to be.

  4. I really liked your take on this! You have such a wonderful personality and the black and white photo really lets this shine through! This picture is so pretty, and I like that you are looking right at the camera to show confidence and pride. Both of these things are so important to have, and you definitely have both! Great job, Mikayla!

  5. I like that you want to be happy and joyful in the future, that's something I wish for as well. I think it's wonderful that you want the best for you and your family. Trying new things is definitely uncomfortable for me, but I love that you are open to it, and I also believe it's a great idea to want to learn more from others. Everyone has a different message and the more you know, the better.
